The purpose of this organization shall be to create enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote leadership, and to develop character in the students of secondary schools.
Members of the National Honor Society must maintain a required GPA and perform 30 hours of community service during the school year. The 30 hours may be broken down into 10 hours for school, 10 hours for community, and 10 hours for other services as approved by the sponsor.
Students receive special recognition at graduation with the wearing of a gold tassel and a NHS stole to represent their achievements.
