RECOGNIZING EXCELLENCE IN HIGH SCHOOL JUNIORS

The Washington Workshop Foundation- offers The Washington Internship Experience to motivated students interested in government and politics.  The primary component of this Advanced Workshop Seminar is a three to six week internship in a Congressional office or politically related committee, council or state office on or near Capital Hill.  Students are also given the opportunity to conduct an in-depth study on legislative politics.  These internships encompass a wide range of assignments, from covering committee hearings and legislative correspondence to legislative and issue research.  Regardless of their actual duties, students enjoy the unique opportunity to witness, from an insiders’ vantage, national politics as it happens.  Students live at Marymount University.  Marymount is located in nearby Arlington, Virginia.  Students experience traditional dormitory living in double occupancy, air conditioned rooms, and enjoy breakfast and dinner in the college dining facility. Transportation is provided for the students between the campus and their assigned office. The three week Washington Internship Experience cost $3,250, and additional week add on priced on a pro-rata, proportional basis.  This cost includes full tuition, a workshop staff member on campus duty at all times, breakfast and dinner each day in the campus cafeteria, and daily transportation to and from campus to the placement offices.  This also includes a non-refundable $150.00 application fee.  Students may schedule attendance for a three-four-five or six week program between Sunday, June 17 and Saturday, July 28, 2007.  The Washington Workshops Foundation seeks students who have demonstrated academic achievement and potential who will bring varied interest, talents and experiences to the program.  A strong academic record is important, and your involvement in extra-curricular activities, work and community services.  See Mrs. Mann if interested.
